Colloquia and Symposiums of the Law & Culture Forum

The Lumen Christi Institute is hosting two major events in downtown Chicago this summer at the Westin River North. On Tuesday, June, 2, 2009 the Institute will host a panel discussion on "The Moral and Legal Case for School Choice" featuring academic and legal experts, Rev. Tim Scully, C.S.C., Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, Rick Garnett, Professor of Law at the Notre Dame Law School, and Howard Fuller, Distinguished Professor of Education and Director of the Institute for the Transformation of Learning, Marquette University. On Thursday, June 25, 2009, the Institute will host an event entitled, "Faith and Citizenship in the New World Order," which will feature author and law professor, Vincent Rougeau from the Notre Dame Law School, discussing his book on the subject recently published by Oxford University Press. Both of these events promise to be worthwhile and lively sessions for the legal community in Chicago.

For the past five years, the Lumen Christi Institute has co-sponsored a one-day academic conference with the Law Professors' Christian Fellowship (LPCF). This conference has been held in conjunction with the Association of American Law Schools' (AALS) Annual Meeting. This larger event usually takes place each year in early January and rotates among a number of cities including Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Antonio, New Orleans, and New York. The Law & Culture Forum has also hosted other major events for legal professionals in downtown Chicago. These events have seen more than 500 lawyers and judges in attendance for addresses or discussions with figures including Francis Cardinal George, Albert. W Alschuler, and Richard A. Posner among many others.
