Institute Staff


Thomas Levergood, Executive Director
Thomas Levergood received his B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in General Studies in the Humanities at the University of Chicago. He taught American Literature at a high school in Paris and has done political work and research. After studies in languages and literature in Munich, Paris, and New York, he returned to the University of Chicago to pursue graduate studies in theology, politics, and literature in the Committee on Social Thought. Thomas Levergood is a co-founder of the Lumen Christi Institute.

Martin Salvucci, Director of Development
Martin Salvucci earned both a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Philosophy at the University of Chicago. Prior to coming to Lumen Christi, Martin spent nearly five years working in the Office of Alumni Relations & Development at the University of Chicago. In his spare time, Martin serves as Development Consultant to the National Council for History Education and Fundraising Chair for the University of Chicago Class of 2010. Martin also sits on the Junior Board of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, as well as the Editorial Board of Counterpoint Quarterly. Martin is an avid student of politics and a long-suffering Philadelphia sports fan.

Bob Cummings, Executive Assistant and Office Manager
Bob comes to Lumen Christi after spending six years in Buenos Aires at the service of the Focolare Movement, one of the Church’s ecclesial movements. He received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. After completing a two-year work-study program in Europe, he worked in Mortgage Banking in Los Angeles and then in Catholic Publishing in New York. Bob enjoys studying languages, playing tennis, and running.

Therese O’Malley Junker, Director of Foundation and Donor Relations
Therese is a native Chicagoan and the proud mother of her two daughters, Cecilia and Anne. Before joining the Lumen Christi Institute, she worked in development at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Benefactor Relations for over six years. She is a graduate of the University of Dallas, where she received a B.A. in Political Philosophy and an M.B.A. in Business Management.

Ursula Pawlowski, Communications and Events Administrator
Ursula Pawlowski, a native of northwest Connecticut, received her B.A. in English Literature and History from the College of the Holy Cross in 2002, and her M.A. in Journalism with a concentration in Religion, Spirituality, and Ethics from Northwestern University in 2006. She currently coordinates communications efforts and events for the Lumen Christi Institute.

Mark Franzen, Staff Assistant
Mark grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and received a B.A. in Philosophy and Art from North Park University in Chicago. He is currently a graduate student in Philosophy of Religions at the University of Chicago Divinity School concentrating on 20th century European Philosophy. He enjoys cycling, cooking, and gardening with his wife, Lauren.

 

 

 


Paul Mankowski, SJ, Scholar-in-Residence
A native of South Bend, Indiana, and a member of the Society of Jesus, Paul Mankowski has an A.B. from the University of Chicago, an M.A. from Oxford, and a Ph.D. in Semitic Philology from Harvard University. He taught for many years at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and has published in areas of language, theology, and the biblical text.
